Many small businesses do not know that you can get some free advertising on Google, using Google Local or Google Maps. Google is looking to increase the value of their local search and their mapping application, so they have a simple way for you to tell them some information about your business, and now they are infusing those results into their main search engine.

It is basically a way to advertise your business on Google for free, and everyone loves a free advertisement. This will help your advertisement show up in searches and can help you get more traffic, leads and customers. For example, see the image below.

How to Get Free Advertising on Google

Things You Need Before Starting Your Free Advertisement

Sign up for Google account, if doesn’t already have one.

A description of your business,

Your phone number, address and any other contact info you want to advertise,

A logo or image that represents your business (some people use a picture of their office, store or restaurant),

A coupon or special offer you want to advertise (Google also lets you add a coupon for FREE if you want).

Step-by-Step Guide to Free Google Advertisement

Go to www.google.co.uk/places/ and search for your business to verify it is not yet listed with an advertisement.

Go back to www.google.co.uk/places/ and click on Add/Edit Your Business at the bottom left part of the page. (See image below.)

Follow the steps provided by Google. They are pretty simple and straightforward. As part of the process you will need to verify your business either by phone or mail.

Check back in a few weeks with Google and verify your listing. If you want to update it, you can use the same process outlined here to update your listing.

After a while, magically…

It is intended for registration of domains to be used by businesses. The name is a phonetic spelling of the first syllable of business.

The biz TLD was created to relieve some of the demand for domain names in the com top-level domain, and to provide an alternative for businesses whose preferred domain name in com had already been registered by another party. There are no specific legal or geographic qualifications to register a biz domain name, except that it must be for “bona fide business or commercial use”. It was created in 2001 along with several other domains as the first batch of new gTLDs approved by ICANN in the expansion of the Domain Name System following the increased interest in Internet commerce in the late 1990s. The TLD is administered by NeuStar and registrations are processed via accredited registrars.

In contrast to other newly installed top-level domains, the biz registry did not implement a sunrise period to grant trademark owners first chance at registration, but instead used a procedure whereby they could file intellectual property claims in advance and then challenge any eventual registrant through a policy named Startup Trademark Opposition Policy (STOP). A number of domains were successfully obtained by trademark owners from other registrants through this policy; some of the more controversial cases, where generic words were taken over based on trademark claims in a process deemed “reverse hijacking” by critics, included that of paint.biz and canadian.biz, the latter being reversed by a court decision.

The name is derived from organization. The org domain was one of the original top-level domains, with com, edu, gov, mil and net, established in January 1985.
It was originally intended for non-profit organizations or organizations of a non-commercial character that did not meet the requirements for other gTLDs. The MITRE Corporation was the first group to register an org domain with mitre.org in July 1985.

Registrations in the org are processed via accredited registrars worldwide. Anyone can register an org second-level domain. Although org was recommended for non-commercial entities, there are no restrictions to registration. There are many instances of org being used by commercial sites. org was also commonly recommended for use by individuals, although name and info are now alternatives. According to the company’s Dashboard (Domain Name) report, the composition of .ORG is diverse, including cultural institutions, associations, sports/teams, religious, civic, open source software (such as Wiki, Drupal, Joomla), schools, environmental initiatives, social/fraternal organizations, health, legal services, clubs and community volunteer groups. There are also cases where companies or organizations have created sites under .ORG for crisis management.

The org TLD has been operated since January 1, 2003 by Public Interest Registry, who assumed the task from VeriSign Global Registry Services, a division of VeriSign.

Although organizations anywhere in the world can register org domains, many countries have a second-level domain with a similar purpose under their own country code top-level domain (ccTLD). Such second-level domains are usually of the form org.cc or or.cc, where cc is the country code. jp , uk and au are examples of this convention.

On 17 March 2010 The Public Interest Registry announced that there are over 8 million domain names registered as .org, making it the third largest generic top-level domain (gTLD).

The name is derived from network, indicating its originally intended purpose for organizations involved in networking technologies, such as Internet service providers and other infrastructure companies.

However, restrictions were never enforced and the domain is a general purpose name space. It is still popular with network operators, and is often treated as an alternate to com.

net is one of the original top-level domains (the other five being com, edu, gov, mil, and org) despite not being mentioned in RFC 920, having been created in January 1985. As of 2009, it is the fourth most popular top-level domain, after com, cn, and de.

VeriSign, the operator of net after acquiring Network Solutions, held an operations contract that expired on June 30, 2005. ICANN, the organization responsible for domain management, sought proposals from organizations to operate the domain upon expiration of the contract. VeriSign regained the contract bid, and secured its control over the net registry for another six years.

Registrations are processed via accredited registrars and internationalized domain names are also accepted.

Design is costly process, but we included the prices with the domain name and the hosting (only with HomePro & BusinessPro) and made it affordable.

A domain name is an identification label that defines a realm of administrative autonomy, authority, or control on the Internet, based on the Domain Name System (DNS).

Domain names are used in various networking contexts and application-specific naming and addressing purposes. They are organized in subordinate levels (subdomains) of the DNS root domain, which is nameless. The first-level set of domain names are the top-level domains (TLDs), including the generic top-level domains (gTLDs), such as the prominent domains com, net and org, and the country code top-level domains (ccTLDs). Below these top-level domains in the DNS hierarchy are the second-level and third-level domain names that are typically open for reservation by end-users that wish to connect local area networks to the Internet, run web sites, or create other publicly accessible Internet resources. The registration of these domain names is usually administered by domain name registrars who sell their services to the public.

Individual Internet host computers use domain names as host identifiers, or hostnames. Hostnames are the leaf labels in the domain name system usually without further subordinate domain name space. Hostnames appear as a component in Uniform Resource Locators (URLs) for Internet resources such as web sites (e.g., en.wikipedia.org).

Domain names are also used as simple identification labels to indicate ownership or control of a resource. Such examples are the realm identifiers used in the Session Initiation Protocol (SIP), the DomainKeys used to verify DNS domains in e-mail systems, and in many other Uniform Resource Identifiers (URIs).

An important purpose of domain names is to provide easily recognizable and memorizable names to numerically addressed Internet resources. This abstraction allows any resource (e.g., website) to be moved to a different physical location in the address topology of the network, globally or locally in an intranet. Such a move usually requires changing the IP address of a resource and the corresponding translation of this IP address to and from its domain name.

Domain names are often referred to simply as domains and domain name registrants are frequently referred to as domain owners, although domain name registration with a registrar does not confer any legal ownership of the domain name, only an exclusive right of use.

This article primarily discusses the group of domain names that are offered by domain name registrars for registration by the public. The Domain Name System article discusses the technical facilities and infrastructure of the domain name space and the hostname article deals with specific information about the use of domain names as identifiers of network hosts.

So it is all started in 2002, with urldir.co.uk. Site where everything about Tamworth. Because I have been living here for some time now, thought give something back maybe. Started listing business located in Tamworth, helping local businesses to be seen and found, and helping locals to find the information quick and fast.

Also listed all the attractions of Tamworth, so as well locals, people who like to day out, can find this information and maybe visit this beautiful town.

With the help of some other authors, trying to keep the information fresh, trying to improve and keep it up-to-date. Any comments and questions welcome.
